Hello!
I'm Margaret Mugweru and I'm the mother in charge of Cheerful Special Home. I'm a foretired teacher and I'm trained to teach children with special needs and mental challenges. To build Cheerful Special Home was a calling from God and I've been working with passion for those cheerful children for over 20 years.
I am Jennifer Wambuyo and I've been working at Cheerful Special Home since 2014. I am the children's main caregiver, I make sure that they bathe and dress well, clean the home etc. In doing so I'm helped by Rose, our cook, who joined us a few months ago andtakes care of preparing the meals for everyone.
Fun fact: every friday I make Chapatis and I love to sing.

The doctor diagnosed a brain damage. I have two siblings which are also mentally challenged, while the last born in our family is healthy. I am now well trained in all daily activities and I am always willing to learn new things.
My name is Grace Nyaguthii.
I am the last born in a family of six and I have down syndrome. My family is very poor so they couldn't support me in my development. Here in Cheerful Special Home I became well trained in all activities of daily living. I'm a very happy person with a wide smile all the time

I have one sister. I have celebral palsy. I'm trained in all activities of daily living. I take a little more time to learn something new but once I've learned something I carry it out well.
I'm Steven Kamau and I'm the oldest brother of Joseph Kairu who is also living here at Cheerful Special Home. I grew up with him, my mother and three other siblings who are healthy. I have brain damage but I am really well trained in activities of daily living and I love to play with car wheels
I'm Joseph Kairu and I am Steven's little brother. I grew up with him, my mother and three other siblings. I have brain damage too. Margaret says I'm very good at some skills and I really help a lot around the home.
I am Eston Maina and I am the first born in my family. I grew up with my mother nad my siblings. I have brain damage but I am well developped especially in activities of daily living and in other skills too. Margaret says I'm helping a lot at the home.
My name is Alex Wanjau. I have down syndrome. I'm trained in all actiivties of daily living and I'mvery hard working. Because of this I help a lot around the home by doing many different tasks like gardening or taking care of the goats.

I have Down syndrome. When I came to Cheerful Special Home I was not trained in activities of daily living, but only because there was nobody to guide me. I am happy to be at Cheerful Special Home because I learned skills like bathe, brush my teeth and dress myself well. I can also help around for example by sweeping the floor
I am Mercy Njeri. I grew up with two bothers and two sisters and I'm the last born. I have Down syndrome. I have learned a lot of skills in Cheerful Special Home. I am good in activities of daily living such as washing utensils, sweeping the floor etc, so when I'm home during holydays I can help a lot.

I have brain damage. I have trhee siblings, all healthy. I'm trained in all activities of daily living so I can help a lot arounf Cheerful Special Home, for instance feeding the goats.

I have brain damage and my speech isn't well developed but I have many other abilities! They say I'm a good team leader! I have a brother who also has brain damage, maybe one day he can come to Cheerful Special Home too.
My name is Mercy Wairimu
I'm the lastborn in a family of eight. I have Down syndrome. I'm an orphan and I was left in the care of my siblings who tossed me around from one home to another since none was willing to take full responsability of me. Now I live happily at Cheerful Special Home, where I learned how to carry out many different activities of daily living.
My name is Martin Njogu
I'm the last born in my family and I grew up with my mother and my siblings, since my father passed away. I have Down Syndrome. I like washing the utensils. Margaret was my teacher and she says that I am very good at counting. I'm also a very active person.
I am Carolin Wangea
I've been living here at Cheerful Special Home since the beginning of 2021. Before I was living with my grandparents, but my grandmother passed away and my grandfather is too old to take good care of me. I have brain damage but I'm very well trained in all activities of daily living. Margaret says with time I'm changing into a happy girl.
I am Polly Nyaguthii and I grew up with my brother and my single mother. Since my mother couldn't take good care of me, my brother takes care of me when I'm home for the holidays. I can carry out many tasks and I help a lot here in Cheerful Special home
I am Levis Gitehi. I came here at Cheerful Special Home in 2024 when I was 14 years old. I have Down Syndrome and I come from a very needy family. Here they take good care of me, I go to school, make new friends and I can play ball games which I really enjoy.
My name is Christine and I come from a very needy family. Here I've learned some basic skills such as dressing myself, cleaning the dishes or sweeping the floor for example. I really love to sing!

I have down Syndrome and I come from a very needy family. Here at cheerful Special Home I learned many things like how to dress and bathe myself and how to use a pit latrine. I love spending time swinging and I enjoy the food a lot.
My name is Rachel Watetu and I came here in 2023 when I was 10 years old. I have Down sindrome. I'm a very loving girl and I like hugging friends and teachers.
